The Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake trek is an extraordinary adventure that combines the thrill of standing at base of the world’s highest peak with the serene beauty of Gokyo Lake. This journey combines hard trails, breathtaking panoramic views, and rich cultural experiences, making it a must-do for passionate trekkers.
The Everest Base Camp with Gokyo Lake Trek begins with a 20-minute flight from Ramechhap to Lukla, with a beautiful panoramic mountain range, after which the trek officially begins towards Phakding.
From here, the trek continues via picturesque villages such as Namche Bazaar, Dole, Machherma, and Gokyo. Gokyo Lake is considered one of Nepal’s most beautiful lakes, located at an altitude of 4,800 meters. These villages are mostly inhabited by Sherpa people, with a rich cultural heritage across the region.
We will also hike up to Gokyo Ri (5,357 m), to witness the panoramic view of four 8,000-meter peaks, i.e., Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho-Oyu, and the Ngozumpa Glacier.
The trail quickly ascends from Gokyo Lake to the Cho La Pass (5,420 m), which rests between high peaks and provides stunning panoramas of the himalayas. From this high point, the trail gently descends to Dzongla.
Then, we will continue our trek to the Everest Base Camp, passing through Lobuche and Gorakshep. The ascent up Kala Patthar is one of the trek’s most unforgettable highlights. The climb is comparatively difficult, but the view from the top of the south face of Mt. Everest and other mountains is worth every step.
The trek is an all-in-one adventure for all adventure enthusiasts, as you’ll cross suspension bridges covered with prayer flags, walk through rhododendron forests, explore the magical Gokyo Lake, cross over the 5,000-meter pass, walk over the glacial ice, and stand at the base of Mount Everest.

The Lukla flight may have an impact on your entire plan. Due to increased air traffic in Kathmandu during peak seasons, the service will operate from Manthali Airport, Ramechaap district. However, flights are operated from Kathmandu in the nonpeak seasons. Flights can be delayed because of the bad weather, crowded traffic, unmanaged runway, and topographical challenges. Hence, it is recommended to arrange an additional 1-2 days to avoid the stress of flight delays when trekking in the Everest region. Also, we offer helicopter flight service directly from Kathmandu to Lukla for an additional fee of USD 500 per person (on a five-person sharing basis), thus avoiding the long drive to Manthali airport during peak seasons.
