Overview

Are you an educator looking to provide your students with a transformative learning experience beyond the classroom?

We’ve got your back, Our Academic Adventure Trek has been tailored for school and university students with a series of workshops and activities to educate, empower, and inspire young students, all while exploring some of the best trekking destinations of Nepal. It is a blend of experiential learning and trekking, aiming to foster personal growth, teamwork, and cultural awareness among the students.

We are some of the very first to introduce such an idea, focusing on the vast learning opportunities from the stunning landscapes and the rich cultural heritage of Nepal.

By integrating educational objectives with adventure, our program emphasizes environmental protection and local community engagement, making it stand out within the broader context of sustainable tourism.

Our Program Pillars:

Academic Adventure Trek has been developed considering the four important aspects.

  • Cultural Immersion:

Nepal is home to over 120 ethnic groups; this offers students a window into a world of traditions and warmth.

Learn to cook local cuisines: Learn to cook and taste traditional dishes like dal bhat (lentils and rice), and momo (dumplings) with local families.
Community engagement: Visit villages and talk with locals and indigenous communities to understand their daily lives and values.
Celebrate local festivals and dances: Watch the traditional dances of different communities, and if timing aligns, participate in the festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Loshar, or Holi for an authentic experience.
Learn basic Nepali Phrases: Students will be taught simple Nepali phrases like “Namase” (hello) and “Dhanyabad” (thank you) to enhance their interactions and bridge a cultural gap.

  • Outdoor Activities:

Nepal’s diverse terrain, from plain lowlands to alpine grassland, offers a variety of outdoor activities that cater to all interests. Whether it’s trekking in the Himalayas or adventurous canoeing, our Academic Adventure trek ensures that students experience the best of Nepal’s natural beauty.

Trek the scenic Trails: Students will be trekking in some of the best trekking routes of Nepal, through rhododendron forests and terraced farms, and witness the magical Himalayan ranges.
Canoeing: Canoeing on the Rapti River, with bird watching in Chitwan National Park.
National Park and Jungle Safari: Visit the first National Park of Nepal, “Chitwan National Park” for a Jungle safari. Chitwan National Park is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with more than 525 bird species and over 50 mammal species, including the One-horned rhino and the Royal Bengal tiger.

  • Social Responsibility:

We strongly believe in giving back to the communities. Our Academic Adventure Trek includes a social responsibility aspect that allows students to make a positive impact on communities and nature.

Volunteer Projects: Students can participate in different projects like teaching different subjects to village kids, participating in trail cleanups, and planting trees.
Learn and practice sustainable travel: Students will be taught about the “Leave No Trace” principle in their workshop and will practice on the entire trek, helping students to learn sustainable habits.
Community Contribution: We also encourage every participant to support locals by buying local handmade crafts or donating basic supplies to local schools.

  • Team Building Workshop:

Another important pillar that this program emphasizes in Team building. Teamwork is about multiplying your potential and achieving things one never could on his/her own. We offer different fun and engaging activities through which students will learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Balloon Tower Building: Each group of students will work together to build the tallest balloon tower with very limited resources.
Group Painting: Every team of students will be provided with colors and drawing paper to draw the majestic views they see of the Himalayas.
Tug of War: Each team will also play tug of war at an altitude of 2,500 meters to 3,500 meters, helping them to understand that teamwork isn’t just about showing up, but rather it’s about trusting, encouraging, adapting, and finding strength in each other when things get tough.

Why choose Nepal for your Academic Adventure Trek?

Unmatched Geographical diversity: The landscape of Nepal ranges from towering peaks of the Himalayas to the lush jungles of the plain Terai region, packed in a small area. Out of the ten highest mountains, eight of them lie in Nepal, including the highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest (8,848.86m). Thanks to this natural geographical diversity, students get to explore diverse ecosystems at different range of altitudes with a variety of trekking routes suitable for all skill levels.

Rich Cultural Heritage: Nepal is home to over 120 ethnic groups and 123 languages. With different traditions, festivals, and architectural monuments, students can engage with Sherpa, Gurung, Newar, and many other communities to understand anthropology, sociology, and history. Such experience is rarely found elsewhere, setting Nepal apart as a living cultural laboratory.

Adventure Capital of the world: Known as the “Land of Himalayas,” Nepal is no doubt one of the best destinations for outdoor thrilling activities like trekking on some of the iconic trails, canoeing, rafting on pristine rivers, jungle safari, paragliding, bungee jumping, ziplining, and many more. Nepal offers a wide range of adventures catering to all levels of enthusiasm and skill. This allows academic programs to incorporate adventure elements that enhance students’ personal growth while maintaining educational value, creating well-rounded learning experiences.

Safe and welcoming communities for Students: Nepali people are renowned for their hospitality and warmth towards other people. Schools and universities can rest assured that their students will be welcomed with genuine Nepali “Namaste” hospitality, ensuring students feel supported and comfortable during their entire journey. Paired with knowledgeable guides and well-established trekking routes, this creates a safe and educational setting.

Affordability and Accessibility: Compared to other adventure destinations, Nepal offers incredible value for students without compromising on quality or experience. Accommodation, food, and other expenses are significantly low, making the trek accessible to an even broader range of students.
